Hope prevails. Gaza 4 months on
A reminder of happier times. Our mission is to deliver important and much needed support to the Children of Gaza. Palestine Trauma Centre (UK) staff at work before their world changed on 7th October 2023.
The image above shows our dear friends and colleagues Fedaa and Mahmoud at a Days of Joy session.
Today, the same street is deserted, strewn with rubble. The van and equipment unusable and the PTC (UK) office and clinic building in Nuseirat a bombed out shell. Worse, we have no idea if the lovely child we see in the picture is still alive.
Both Fedaa and Mahmoud have been seriously injured and both have suffered the unimaginable loss of their wives and children who were killed when bombs destroyed their homes. Fedaa and Mahmoud are slowly recovering and trying to come to terms with what has happened. We get occasional messages from them now. The long journey to rebuild their lives has begun.
Now this is their reality. Despite everything, in the tent cities now forming in the overcrowded south of Gaza, Days of Joy with minimal equipment gathers children together to engage in psycho-social activity. Firas leads the group outdoors and Jaber indoors.
Our mission is not over. Now, more than ever what we do is desperately needed to support a new generation of innocent victims. Despite their own hardships, our team continues to offer therapy for children even under the ceaseless bombardment that is bringing such untold misery to so many. The homes of both Firas and Jaber have been destroyed: their therapy is to go back to work.

Palestine Trauma Centre (UK) is a UK based charity that works to provide adults and children living within the Gaza strip with access to psychological support and mental health services.
Funds donated to our emergency appeal will be used to provide direct relief to the population of the Gaza strip, to support the reconstruction and restoration of our services within the Gaza strip or to provide staff training and remuneration to our team on the ground in Gaza.
